The history of Ahmedabad that we all know

The famous Indian struggle for independence is something that has gone down in the pages of the history of the world. One of the pioneering leaders of this movement was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, also better known as Mahatma Gandhi. He had a vision of his own in which we wanted to change the definition of civilisation of mankind. Thus on the banks of the river Sabarmati, which is just a couple of kilometres away from the main city of Ahmedabad he had established an ashram or hermitage of his own, where an alternate living, where one made everything on their own, was practised. The ashram has continued to flourish even till date, which you can visit from any one of the 3 star hotels in Ahmedabad where you will be staying.

The untold history of Ahmedabad’s origin

How this city came to be established is a history that little is known about. Let us go back to the 15th century. It was the time when the Muzaffarid dynasty held sway over this region. Ahmed Shah, a ruler from this dynasty, was once standing on the banks of the River Sabarmati spending a leisurely time. Suddenly he noticed something unusual. He saw a little rabbit chasing a large wild dog! He was so surprised and perplexed at this that he went to his guru and asked him what it was all about. The spiritual leader told him that such was the unique power of this land that it could turn little rabbits into mighty lions at hear! Impressed, the Shah, decided to turn this land into his capital and named it Ahmedabad, or the abode of Ahmed.

Now that you have an idea about the interesting past of this city, you will be able to enjoy your trip to Ahmedabad, a lot more.
